Astronomy Inside 5AR
Saturn is now in view throughout the night. It presents a wonderful image through a telescope but is hard to photograph with my hand-held digital camera. To get this image I use a tracking program called STELLARIUM on my Mac. Once I located Saturn, I took a screen shot and presto… here it is. Click on the image for a full size picture. Note that the surrounding moons have been marked with a circle around them (the circles are markers only and don’t really appear around Titan, Dione, Rhea and “friends”).
This is the same moon shot from the Front Page post. It’s an actual photo taken from my reflector telescope using a hand-held camera. I managed to take the shot by holding the camera up to the eyepiece of the scope. With a quick auto focus, the shot was taken. I’m happy with this one

Well, it’s towards the end of April 09 and Jupiter sits low in the eastern sky. Hello Jupiter. I’ve taken a snap-shot using Stellarium. Jupiter comes into view with company. Can you see the moons??

Now it’s Uranus rising in the eastern skies. It’s a long way out so Stellarium, once again, has been called into use. Lovely images
